About This Book
After nearly fifteen years of experience in procurement, working across different industries and with leading companies in their respective fields, I found myself facing a new reality—one that is transforming not only the business world, but also the way we live, communicate, and make decisions: artificial intelligence. As AI began to reshape organizations, professions, and global markets, I recognized the need to evolve alongside it. To better understand this transformation and prepare for the future of business, I enrolled in a master’s program focused on Artificial Intelligence for Business at Arizona State University.Reimagining Procurement was born from the intersection of my professional experience and this new academic journey. The book brings together the traditional foundations of procurement—strategic sourcing, negotiation, supplier management, cost optimization, risk management, and value creation—with the capabilities of artificial intelligence. Its purpose is not to replace the experience, judgment, or human relationships that have always been essential to procurement. Instead, it explores how AI can strengthen them by automating repetitive activities, analyzing complex information, supporting faster and better-informed decisions, identifying risks and opportunities, and making procurement processes more efficient and strategic. This book is an invitation to rethink the role of procurement in the modern organization. It is about moving beyond traditional ways of working and understanding how people, technology, purpose, and business value can come together to build a smarter and more agile procurement function. The future of procurement is not simply about adopting new tools. It is about developing a new way of thinking, working, and creating value in an increasingly intelligent world.
